knowledge is power 120-130 1967

I suppose that whether or not I choose to do it, it's nice to know that I could. Not only am I a cheapskate, but it's a rewarding feeling to have total dominion over your personal robot (or automobile or whatever). I'm infatuated with maps, perhaps because they offer another way to view and understand one's surroundings. I'm also compelled to learn more about the human anatomy--- When my back hurts I want to know *why* my back hurts, and the lifting of a transmission out of my trunk notwithstanding, it's interesting to know how the bones and muscles are all connected. I've been reading the Haynes manual recreationally--- well, it's near the toilet if you get my drift. It's been a desire of mine lately to understand more and more about the things I deal with on a daily basis, in part because of an increasing acceptance of disposability; All too often people will simply replace a faulty generator without even taking it apart to see what's wrong. Sometimes it's only a small problem. I'm not going to move out of my apartment just because the STOVE quit working (I already did that once). In truth, I probably won't mess with the alignment, but it's nice to know that I can.

It's even nicer to know that for fifty bucks Sears will fix whatever it was I broke.
