Here We Go Again: More Cooked Engines 140-160 1969

I notice that there seems to be an inordinate emphasis on these
problems.
While I have had my share of overheating incidents in both Panama and
Oklahoma, they have not had the disastrous impact described for the
"newfangled" late models (240 etc).
I wonder if the cast arn cylinder head isn't a lot more rugged,
sepecially since it has the same coefficient of thermal expansion
as the engine block. Seems to me like a high-expansion material
like aluminum is a poor choice for a cradle for a camshaft when
temperature excursions are a possibility, for example. And the
head can buckle against the more rigid block....

Wonder if the old Ardun Mercs had the same series of problems.

Think I'll stick with the oldtimers. They are pretty rugged and you
don't have to have a bunch of metric tools either.
