Hard Cold Start 700 1990

I have a 1990 740 GL that I haven't been able to drive since March. It has a B230F engine and a AW70L transmission. The car will start, but it is hard to do when cold. Is there something called the cold start sensor and could it be bad? How do you check it? Please help. Thanks in advance.
