Removing broken brass fitting in cast iron block

George,

I talked to the machinist at my local automotive machine shop and he concurred that the round extractor was self defeating as it just causes it to grip the block tighter. Like you he suggested the only quick fix might be a square shouldered extractor, otherwise I was looking at some real trouble. The square one did it and without a lot of torque. Thanks for putting me on the right trail.
