Looking At Air Tools At Pawn Shops. What to Get And How Much To Pay?

I do a lot of nosing around pawn shops looking for the old guns I collect. I see an aweful lot of air tools in many of these shops. I would like to use them in doing some car care jobs. I have a compressor set up. What should I be looking at to purchase and about how much is reasonable to spend on these used? What goes wrong with them...any buying tips?
