It finally happened to me...wiring harness replacement! Ouchie!

Big job. Get a new gasket for the intake manifold. The harness is easier with the manifold not attached to the head. It does not have to be entirely removed, just back away from the head.

Here's an idea: Note that the harness goes into to a large connector clipped to the firewall just back of the head. Then the harness travels between intake rail #3 and #4, thence downward. When you install the new harness (get one from Dave Barton) route the wires so they go from that connector down under intake rail #4. That will allow you to relocate the flame trap like the 1988's have, making it reachable from the top, and the service - no stripped knuckles - takes 15 min max.
