Theoretical question. 700 1987

No flame trap on the turbo (there is a good reason why - long story which I won't bore you with unless you really want to know) - but you have everything else in the PCV circuit. The hoses and nipples can plug up, as can the breather box, just like they do on the NA cars with the flame trap. Check out the FAQ section on crancase ventilation. Lots of good info and explanation on how the PCV circuit works and what can go wrong with it. The key thing is to check the plastic "nipple" and the hoses that connect to it at least once a year. Keep everything clean and replace the hoses when they plug up. If you don't then the pressure in the crankcase will build up and blow out a crankshaft or camshaft seal, or blow out the turbo oil drain line seal. Hope this helps. I am an expert on neglecting the PCV system on my Volvo's in the past so I know first hand what problems it can cause. Not worth it for the sake of an easy half hour check-out once a year. Hope this helps.
