Automobile 'Black Box'

Brett,
I have heard similar information that you provided. The boxes are only supposed to track the last 10 seconds to provide air bag information and other info to help make cars safer. All the times I have heard or read something about these boxes, most seem to be located under the passenger's seat. I have yet to hear of one being intergrated into the ECU, however that is not to say that is not a possibility. The one box I have seen was from a Corvette and it had a connector on one end to hook into a laptop. Hope this helps, best of luck.
