A faulty sender would give you a wonky reading.
Have a good mechanic pull the sender and test oil pressure with a guage, or replace the sending unit.
I had a friend that was a British trained Volvo mechanic. There were no Volvo shops here in the city we are in, so he got a job at a VW dealer. One day he spotted a fairly new VW diesel Jetta advertised for super cheap - the ad read - needs engine work. He phoned and then drove 1.5 hours to see tha car - no rust, reasoble miles. The oil light stayed on. The owner said that they ahd been to a garage and the mechanic told them that the motor was kaput. My friend figureds that for the $50 agreed upon price, even if he had to tow it home, it was worth the parts.
As he drove it, he was waiting for the valvbe rattle, etc. NOTHING!!!
A new oil pressure sender and he is still driving this $5000 car. - that he paid $50 for.
I hope your problem is as simple as this.....
