Not sure, but my old Datsun once got hung up on a rear shock. The top of the shock was supposed to overlap the bottom half. However, after a momentary stretch, the edge of that top cap would catch on the bottom half before properly overlapping. See if the bottom edge of the shock cap looks dinged. Best wishes.
