Check out the Bosch Fuel injection book. It has detailed information on both CIS and pulsed fuel injection systems. There are chapters dedicated to testing and diagnosing problems. I don't think you will be sorry to own a copy.

One on ebay right now for about $28 (buy it now). I think this is a little high. I paid $12 to $15 for a copy a few weeks back. Also a pressure gage test kit for about $48 (Buy it now).
