another flame trap question 700 1989

The tube is affixed to the inside of the block by clips. If you yank hard on the tube, you might dislodge it so the bottom end can rise above the oil and/or get wrapped around the crankshaft.

The only time you risk dislodging the plastic tube is if you're removing the oil separator (aka "breather box"). If you're only changing the flame arrester and flame trap, you won't disturb the plastic tube in any way.
