A similar problem seemed to have happened with a 556 ECU on our 1990 740 wagon. The car stalled in traffic while my wife was driving it during a morning rush hour in downtown traffic. Had it towed home. With help from Brickboard, I diagnosed it to the ECU and control of the fuel pump relay. The fix was replacing the 556 with a 933.
