Do I need a new mechanic ??

um.. put a one of those things on your dashboard reflecting light out of the windshield.. chances are your dash is just mega hot. has she changed her parking spot?

i used to have an old van and this was the problem. the ac would be cool pretty quick with the thing on the dash.. but without it it took a few minutes to get down to temperature..

my 2 cents.. probably not worth anything though.
