George,
I agree with you now. I forgot about the regulator, and I should have remembered because I just changed a bad one on my 83 244 B23F with LH-Jet. I drove it for 8 months with low power and economy not knowing why it performed so badly. Fuel Pressure is IMPORTANT!!!

The 83 244 will die soon, especially since I have only a 1-car garage here in New England and the 142E is more important. Rust will be its demise. Quite sad but true.

I diagnose 3 years before rust overtakes her.......

Also, I have not replaced a D-jet diaphragm. Do these pumps have them? If so I will definately tear mine down and replace anyway.

In the business where I work, we replace diaphragms every 3 months!! WOW!!
