Bob, I agree with you -- look for the simple explanation. Also, it is nice to be able to swap out a chunk like the ECU to avoid having to learn its every function and troubleshoot -- they're not that hard to come by.

My problem is I'm a has-been electronics nut and these cars are full of has-been electronics. A perfect match.
