plug welding blues... 120-130

You need to use a wet rag as you're welding to keep the teperature down.

You may well find with cheap hobby type mig welders that they won't turn down low enough to make distortion free welding easy.

On panels that you can get behind easily you can drastically reduce distortion by holdong a large lump of brass behind the hole as you weld, though personally I just can't be bothered as it's too slow. It acts as a heat sink and being brass it won't get welded to the steel.
