now pete, I used a wet rag on the first set, cooling each tack right after I made it until all the sizzling stopped, and that side was WAY worse than the other side where I let each tack air cool as I moved on the the next hole.

I have heard of using a different metal, but only copper and only as a way to limit burn through.
