Actually, my Volvos are such great cars that they give off positive energy all the time. :-)

Excuse the brain fart. Of course you are correct, no pos connection, no sparks. You hook neg last because of the possibility of grounding out while hooking up the pos cable, like you said, with a tool, or maybe if the pos cable has some worn insulation.
