Speedometer problems 200 1986

If the odo still registers miles as you drive, then it means that (a) the speedo head is properly receiving power, and that (b) the speedo head is properly receiving pulses from the sensor.

This points to a failure of the speedo head -- the meter itself.

Is it repairable? Probably. It's a rather straightforward electronic gizmo. All one needs is a schematic, power supply (12 volts), and a representative signal input that mimics the signal from the sensor.
