Checking spark?

Having been zapped by a "leaky" wire, when I do this with an assistant, usually my wife, I make her show me the keys before I attach the jumper to the plug threads and a ground. Then I ask her to crank the engine. Another option, if you don't have an assistant handy, is to use the service starter connector to crank the engine.

Not a bad idea to pull the fuel pump fuses first. You don't want the car to start while testing.
