I don't think the handling would improve. One thing that might improve
the handling would be to compress the rear springs some with maybe a sack
of cement in the back of the trunk. This will squeeze them into a stiffer
rate as well as lowering the back of the car some. Remember that all of
those were rated for about 1000# load, so a 70 or 94# sack of cement
is not much. If you plan to exercise the handling/braking much you might
want to block/brace whatever you have in the trunk to keep it in place.
