Leaving engine on, idling, as a solution??? 200

re: "...Or, you could tow it rear wheels down (d-shaft connected), stop every 10-15 miles, and run the engine for 4-5 minutes to circulate oil through the tranny...."
If it's just circulation of the fluid that's important, has anyone ever considered just leaving the engine on, idling, throughout the trip (assuming transmission in neutral, and a front tow with front wheels up on a dolly, rear wheels on the ground rolling)?
Not anticipating needing to do this, but just wondering :-).
