Leaving engine on, idling, as a solution??? 200

Why not? It's an interesting idea.

One slight concern might be the unusual angle of the car and the possibility of runing the engine dry of oil if you head uphill (further increasing the angle).

If you stop every 10-15 miles to idle the engine briefly, at least you can stare at the oil light...

Nonetheless, your idea is probably fine for a 50 mile drag.

Anything over 50-75 miles and it would be better to drop the d-shaft or tow bassackwards.
