Test fixture for setting air mass sensor 700 1987

Question: How to build a test fixture for adjusting air mass sensor after replacing the Bosch oxygen sensor.

I recently watched my mechanic use a simple LED tester (with 2 wires) for setting the idle fuel mixture on my 87 740 turbo. He connected one test lead to the green wire on the test plug near the air filter box, and connected the other test lead to ground.

He then adjusted the air mass sensor until the on/off cycle on the test light was even (50/50). Sounds easy, eh?

My question, how can I build such a test fixture? It looks like I would use an LED (from Radio Shack) and maybe a series resistor. Any tips for getting the plans for this rig or where to buy one at a reasonable cost?
