I bought an eBay M41 and they packed it into a box with a few strategically placed plywood peices and some styrofoam and shipped it via UPS. The box was a bit beat up but the trannie was OK. Probably the most vulnerable part would be the OD solenoid.
Of course, after spending many hours cutting and replacing the tunnel on my PV, having the dirveshaft shortened, reassembling, etc I took it out for a test drive and discovered that 1st and 3rd syncros are totally non-operable. I gave the guts a good look while swapping the top plate and it all looked nice inside. I've been working around the problem for over a year now, but this winter plan on swapping the guts with my M40.
