I've corresponded with Redline about Volvo manual trannys and they recommend the MTL (not MT-90) in applications where Volvo recommend ATF; ie: all M46 and M47 boxes. The MT-90 is a heavier lube and may not give proper OD operation, particularly in cold weather.

The MTL has indeed given noticeably better gearshifting ease and smoothness along with better OD operation in our two 240's.
