Have had both - 740s and 240s - wagons and sedans. Less rust on 700s, but I like the 240 ride better. I would take an 93 240 wagon in a heartbeat over the 740 wagon. Like Don says, it's no contest. But I am bidding on a 1990 740 wagon on ebay right now! And I am driving a 1995 850 sedan which is a whole new world for me - never thought I would go front wheel drive.

But we still have an 89 240 wagon and 86 240 wagon! LOL Price is also a factor - 240s still bring more money than 740s, especially the 1993 240! The 90-92 740s are bringing $1200-2800 around here (got a great gold 91 740 sedan with 133k for my brother-in-law for $850 last month), but any newer 240 91-93 is almost impossible to find and high priced - $3500-4500. Another factor would be the 134 AC on the 93 240 - the 90 740 probably still has R-12. I am trying to get out of all cars that still have R-12. Both the 86 and 89 240s have working air - but it cost big dollars to replace the compressor the last time around!!I am thinking about buying a 90 740 for $1400 and selling my 86 240 wagon for $2900 (might be able to get it due to its good condition). That's the big difference between 240s and 740s- resale!!
