News: I finally got some time to work on my car. I changed the fuel filter. I inspected the distributor for wear, cracks, and moisture. I inspected the spark plugs and checked the gap. I inspected the coil and tested the primary and secondary resistance.

I was always taught that the engine needs air, fuel, and spark, and to make sure those systems are working. Thus:

Air: new air filter, should be fine. maybe clean the throttle body (but that shouldn't keep it from starting).

Fuel: new FPR. new fuel filter. I can hear the pump running when I first turn the key. maybe weak pressure (shouldn't keep it from starting)? maybe dirty injectors (shouldn't keep it from starting)? maybe bad gas (shouldn't keep it from starting, gas is three months old)?

Spark: new battery. new plugs. soon to be new cap, rotor, coil, and wires. the resistance on both sides of my coil was slightly lower than the range in the manual.

other things: i just replaced the timming belt but it ran fine for two months after that. i'm planning on replacing/cleaning the PCV system. tested as great compression, i'm religious about changing the oil.

I guess what I want to know is: is there anything I'm forgetting and will it all be worth it? was I just slack about tune-ups? I don't want to get rid of this car, but I need more reliability. HELP!!!!
