if it is currently driven by the engine, (by the belt), it will free up the engine, allowing it to run/rev more freely. I don't know how much it will do, probably nothing noticable. I don't even know about air pumps, but it should "free up some horsepower" because it will no longer be driven by the engine... So, don't plan on noticing any difference, but there is a slight possibility...
