Hi Keith -
I found that my 80GT and my wife's 90 744Ti both sit about 1/2" lower on the driver's (left) side. I asked on the board and didn't really get a solid answer... but my guess is it's to make up for the crown of the road; when sitting on a road that slopes down to the right, the taller height on the right levels the car out.
My wife's car may be original, I certainly haven't done anything with it, but my GT has identical shocks/struts/cut down springs so I doubt very seriously that it has to do with that stuff. I'd bet the spring perches are in different places.
Interestingly, the stock springs on my GT had black plastic/metal (?) spacers wedged in between the coils on the driver's side, presumably to level things out. I don't know if this is a stock GT item, a dealer-installed TSB type fix for complaining customers, or some goofy PO mod. Needless to say I didn't put them back in.
However, I did cut an additional 1/4 coil off the right front spring, that decreased the height difference from 7/8" to 1/2". I plan on taking about 1/4 or less coil off the right rear to see what it does. OTOH, I might go nuts and lower it even more.... I kept the stock springs for backup :-)
