I would verify that the fuel pressure is good under a load. I'm not sure what the fuel pressure is on your model but it is 26-36psi on my 85.
The fuel pressure regulator will regulate the pressure depending on the amount of vacuum that goes to the pressure regulator diapragm. High vacuum at idle=low fuel pressure (26psi) Low vacuum on heavy accel=high fuel pressure(36psi). You can disconnect the vacuum to the regulator and the pressure will always be high. It should remain at 36 and not drop when under a heavy accel.
If you have a clogged fuel filter or a weak pump then the pressure will be too low and you will have a loss of power.
Also you might check the catalytic convertor for an exhaust restriction. I had that happen to me and it did the same thing you are describing. Usually you will hear the cat rattling. Just crawl under the car and kick it a few times while listening for a rattle.
Good luck.
