I'd also suggest installing a strut brace and tie bars. Bracing
(with a beam across the car) the tops of the firewall and rear
bulkhead would also be good. Both mods will help torsional rigidity.

As far as the top goes, it wouldn't be easy finding a top for
a 4-door. But, something of the "erector set" (think old MG
top) school can fairly easily be made given enough time and effort.
Otherwise, what about modifying the car to be a "T-top"?
