I just tried that technique yesterday, and I was not able to find the gizmo thing that removes the mirror. So instead, I replaced the whole assembly with a mirror that I bought on ebay. It took me less than an hour including cigarette breaks and BSing with my father-in-law. Go to ebay and search under "volvo 240". I saw one there is AM.
