Bob,

Ummm, I'm missing the point... even the FI cams have that eccentric. Perhaps the idea was to look for evidence that the eccentric had once driven a mechanical pump, like a shiny surface on it?

You could identify a Volvo cam from the lift, but what if there's an aftermarket thing in there? No telling for sure without pulling it out, from where I sit.
