Overdrive in 145 not engaging 140-160

While you are under there checking the fluid level, check for tightness and cleanlyness of the terminals on the OD solenoid and 4th gear switch. See if wiggling the shifter causes engagement. If it does the 4th gear switch is on its last legs and will need replacemnt.

Is the ground strap from the engine to the body intact?

If the diode is on the solenoid, remove it remembering the orientation and reconnect the terminals to the solenoid. If OD shifts when you hit the switch, replace the diode.

IF the above simple things do not work, it may be time for actuating piston seals replacement.
