240 tail lights

Bummer about the smashed tail light. BTDT. The IPD kit is, I think, colored tape. Good for a short-term fix. I hope you collected ALL the pieces of the lens. Using them and judiciously applied epoxy plastic cement you can approximate the lens, then cover it with tape. Oh, look for amber tape at AutoZone or whoever.

Look on eBay for tail lights. Look lots of times. I have bought a pair for under $50, and a single for more. Beware of "auction fever syndrome" which can lead you to bidding more than you finally want to pay. BTDT x 4.

The left side tail light can be made to work on the 1985&older models and on the 1986+ models. Just takes the correct circuit board and a little carving on the unit (for a 1986+ installation).

The Right side is not as easy. Much better to get a 1986+ unit, if that's your car. Be aware that a NEW unit on eBay is likely not a Volvo unit. Better a good used one. When you get it, try to remove and re-seal the back-up light lens.

Good Luck,

Bob
