I was driving home the other night (1990 740 Turbo) on the highway and the engine just quit. The engine was running perfect with no signs of any problems, then in a split second, it died. If I pushed down on the accelerator there was no response. After I coasted to the edge of the road I tried to restart it but it would only idle for less than a second then die. I had it towed home and now that it's cold it will idle until it gets warm and then it dies. If I push on the accelerator the rpm’s won't increase and the engine will die. Any idea of what could be wrong? Could it be the Throttle switch? I’m just wondering what part could break in a matter of seconds, because I had no symptoms before this incident. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
