I've experienced what I believe was a stuck TPS on two occasions (and both were while driving after just having let up on the gas and then attempted to resume). The engine rpms stayed exactly at idle, but the pitch and tone changed as I move the gas pedal back and forth. After pumping the pedal twice, the switch became free again and I was on my way. Note: The car never stalled during this event. However, if you haven't set your base idle speed (independend of the Idle Air Control Valve), then I could see why it could stall the car if the switch became stuck or had an internal failure.
If the TPS checks out, my best bet would be the AMM, followed by a Fuel Pressure Regulator with a failing diaphram.
God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.
