Thanks Art - that was the problem. Cleaned the switch per your pictures and now am no longer a parking lot menace without reverse lights. Bit of a warming trend here in Annapolis so the frostbite wasn't too bad. I think it's official now - I taken apart and cleaned every switch in the entire car - pretty soon it will be time to start back at the beginning and take apart all the power window switches!!
