allignment of dash shelf. 200

Dash shelf aka coin tray.

The coin tray is attached to the control panel front by four fasteners. There are two at each end, front corner and rear corner.

First move the control front piece out away from the center vents. Do this by removing the things holding the side kick panels in place.

At the upper corner of the kick panel is a philips-head bolt - remove it. At the lower corner is a plastic holder piece. Use a big flat tip to turn is 1/4 turn, it should come out easily. These two items are NOT easily replaceable.

The two screws at the bottom of the lower radio/storage box can be left in place for this work. The control panel front just needs to move a little ways out.

Move the panel out and get that big flat tip ready to pop off the holders that attach the coin tray. Go in and pry from the end, not the front edge. If you scuff it up it won't show as much.

Get one end loose. Lift it a bit and work the flat tip in from the inside, getting close the the attachments. Pop them off, and you have the coin tray in hand. OH - if it wasn't empty when you started, it is now!

Now you can see just how it fits. You can also see that it may be arched a little. That arc is, I suspect, what is holding you from proper alignment. The metal "spine" inside the vinyl stuff is quite ductile, much to my surprise.

Straighten it out, maybe even a very small downward arc towards the center.

Pop on the attachments (I don't know their proper name) using finger pressure. The downward arc in the center makes the center of the tray tighter against the control panel front.

Move the control panel front back into position. Then install the side kick panels. Each one has three attachment points. That philips head bolt, the plastic 1/4 turn piece, and a clamp piece up on the firewall. That one is a PITA, and hard to get hooked without removing the over-knee sound pads. Use a flashlight and have a good look at it soyou can get the kick panel in there by feel.

Do that upper clamp first, then the philips head bolt, ad last the plastic 1/4 turn piece.

Done! Easy! Good Luck,

Bob
