I just recently replaced by older Alpine tape/radio with a new Alpine CDM-9803 CD/Radio. Using a Metra adapter harness/plug soldered to the head wires ... the player just plugs right into the existing Brick wiring. I used the Din sleeve in the kit's upper position mounting plate. To pull the head I only have to remove the player's removable face plate ... push the side locks up ... slide the head out of the dash sleeve and disconnect the wiring plug. Re-installing is just the reverse of those simple steps. So if you need to pull the head for some reason it's easy and quickly reversable, as opposed to cutting wires.
I must say the Alpine CDM-9803 CD/Radio is a great sounding stereo. Alpine has just discontinued the 9803 but there are some left at various retailers and online. I think this is a great, modestly priced CD/radio. I paid $149.00 for mine on a close out sale. It has BBE sound processing which really impressed me. Very, very clean sound. I noticed the 2004 Alpine units don't seem to offer BBE. The two Alpines I've installed in my Bricks that have had it, blow me away with the clarity of the sound. So I'd look for the Alpine CDM-9803 w/BBE if you can find one. I've used Alpine in all my Bricks for 20 years. I still buy Alpine products after the comparing price, features, and sound quality of other brands. Of all my Alpines, the 9803 is the best sounding of the bunch. My $.02
