Justin,
I know that this is somewhat off the subject, but I thought I would share a quick story about my 71 142E.
I installed solid state ignition(Perlux from IPD) and was adjusting it after installation. I had the timing set WAAAAY off and was attempting to start the engine. After 8-10 long cranks on the engine, there was a large explosion. This destroyed the entire exhaust system and blew many of the tools off the wall in my garage.
I should have not been so foolish. I had noticed that the fuel pump was kicking in each and every time I attempted to start the car and assumed that it was ok. I was very wrong, because with each start attempt more and more fuel(and fuel vapor) was collecting inside the engine/intake/exhaust and finally it ignited.
Bad news.....
Be careful when dealing with this system. Don't screw up like I did.
Just trying to help if I can,
Jeremy
