Engine ventilation and such 140-160

I was just wondering if anyone who had the oil cap with the hose coming off of it switched to a cap without the hose, if so did they ventilate the valve cover somehow. I'm also wondering the same about the teardrop thing on the side of the engine that runs all the way over to my air box. I basically want to clean things up a bit since I have the engine in pieces anyway.
