Curious if anybody knows of a good place to pressure wash/steam clean/etc a greasy engine compartment in the LA/SF Valley area. Preferably DIY, but whatever's cool.
I'm noticing that a lot of do-it-yourself car washes are posting very obvious placards that they do not allow engine degreasing.
The place I used to use is sorta under the watchful eye of the EPA. Yikes.
I am renting a house and the landlord (a race car fabricator) lives across the street, so when I work on things I'm real careful to put down tarps so as not to mess up his concrete, etc. And he knows a bit too much about cars to be able to pull the wool over his eyes. Can't do too much at home.
My problem is that my girlfriend's 242Ti needs a new PS pump assembly dropped in, as the old one is leaking like a sieve. Forget trying to spray a little Simple Green here and there and wipe it away with the rag -- the grime is caked all over everything and I'm lucky to dig it off with a screwdriver. I'd like to clean the sucker right before I put the new pump in and do a few seals here and there.
Any thoughts, TIA.
