Try the simplest fix first 200 1989

KN--

If your kickdown cable doesn't retract freely when you pull it out at the engine end, try lubricating it before doing anything else.

Two months ago I had an AW70 shifting problem similar to what you're describing. I had some "Gear Moly" which is gear oil weight. I unhooked the engine end nut attachment of the kickdown cable and worked lubricant downhill into the sheath from that end, three or four days in a row (you got to reattach the cable in between sessions, but it's not hard). Each day the cable action (and shifting) got better. Now the trans shifts perfectly.

Minimum hassle, no cost.

Good luck. I hope that's your only problem.

Doug Harvey
