My opinion: If you replace your speedo with a used unit it will start having the same problem sooner or later. Take it apart, see what's broken. Most likely it will be the small gear. If the gear has some broken teeth get one of the replacement gears. If gears are good but it's split along the axis either get a replacement or try the JB Welb fix ala Dave S.
