I can only help you on one issue here. You shouldn't every have to change the brake shoes unless you forget to release the hand brake and burn them up. It is almost unheard of to every have to change the handbrake shoes. I just couldn't find definitive information on the type of brakes your car has, hopefully some else will be able to answer that part.
