444 Drum Thickness Question 444-544 1953

Thanks Ken & George: Your message threads were just at the bottom of this index, so I was able to retrieve all responses. I guess I didn't realize I'd have a problem with certification when your message was posted. My drums seem to be without any ridges, but it's impossible to really know if they're within specs. I went to the garage yesterday and he doesn't have any specs even for the later 544 or Amazon. He showed me how some drum manufacturers put the tolerances on the outer rim, but I didn't see any on my older Volvos. I think his biggest fear is that I'll turn around and sell the car, in which case he's responsible and liable if anything goes wrong. Since I've assured him this car is a keeper, maybe he'll be a little more tolerant. Besides, with 44hp and a top speed of 75 kph, I don't think that brake fade is a problem I'll be faced with!
