Hi Kyle,
I'm not sure yet because I only got it all back together last weekend - I dropped a cam follower into the sump (bright huh?)and decided to drop the front crossmember to get it back out, just in case... I spent the best part of a day fishing for it with a magnet but its not easy to get them out that way!
I've put a B18B spec head on for a bit more compression along with the D cam, a four into 1 manifold into a 2" exhaust (its the Simons one that some of the Volvo parts places sell - it looks really cool). I was running a single Stromberg - I've cut the exhaust manifold away so that I can use the single carb inlet manifold until I get the engine running again and the cam run in. I've got two SUs to put on it after that. I was going to put on a pair of Webers but the guys on Brickboard advised me not to - there's not a lot of room under the Amazon hood for them and it makes a lot of sense to have a setup that is maybe more warm than hot but which is more standard, maybe more reliable and probably easier to troubleshoot.
It was hard to put it all together last weekend and walk away, but it was Sunday night and that's not a good time to discover problems. I'm looking forward to Saturday!
I'm going to post the results as soon as I've had a drive - no point in my asking for all that advice without giving some sort of feedback (and saying thanks).
I also have pictures from the Volvo museum in Gothenburg that I'll have to post somewhere - they're worth a look...
I've got a B20A to think about next - how the B18 turns out will make up my mind about how to approach that one.
Aidan
